Check-in Information for All Players
The grenke Chess Festival starts on Thursday, April 2. To ensure a smooth start to the tournament, please note the following important organizational details.
Confirmation of Participation & Check-in
All players must confirm their participation on April 2nd in order to be paired for the first round. Players who fail to do so in time will not be included in the Round 1 pairings.
Players who have already paid their entry fee will receive an email on the evening of April 1st with an invitation to complete the online check-in. We strongly recommend using this option to avoid waiting times on site.
Alternatively, on-site check-in is available until 5:00 PM. The playing hall opens at 3:00 PM, providing sufficient time to complete the registration.
Schedule for the Evening
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 PM. Based on experience, there may be slight delays while all organizational processes in the background are finalized and coordinated. With more than 3,500 expected participants, a very high turnout is anticipated.
The first round will begin immediately after the opening ceremony.
Default time:
All Freestyle Chess players must be at their board when the starting position is announced. The default time is 0 minutes. The default time for round 1 of the classical tournament will be announced during the opening ceremony. For the following rounds, default time (classical chess) is 30 minutes.
