I do not have a FIDE ID. Can I still participate in the tournament?

No, all tournaments (A-, B-, and C-Open) are assessed based on Elo ratings. Therefore, registration with the World Chess Federation (FIDE) is a prerequisite for participation. You can check if you already have a FIDE ID at ratings.fide.com. Anyone with a FIDE rating (Elo) also automatically possesses a FIDE ID. To obtain a FIDE ID please contact your national federation.

I do not have Elo, DWZ, or any other national rating. Which tournament can I participate in?

Please indicate your playing strength during registration and specify your desired tournament. The tournament director will decide in which category you can participate.

I do not have Elo or DWZ, but I have a national rating from another country. Does this count for classification (A-, B- or C-Open)?

Please provide your national rating during registration and send us a link to the official rating list of your country. Ratings comparable to Elo or DWZ are typically taken into consideration.

Why is the national rating limit set at 1400 for the C-Open, while the Elo limit is 1640?

The FIDE has decided to raise the minimum Elo rating from 1000 to 1400 and to increase all Elo ratings <2000 by March 1, 2024. Therefore, an Elo rating of 1400 will automatically be raised to 1640 by that date.

I have a DWZ/Elo rating above 1950 and have registered for the A-Open. Can I still participate in the A-Open if my DWZ/Elo drops below 1950 by the start of the tournament?

Participation in the A-Open is allowed if the published rating was at least 1950 at any time during the registration period (from February 1, 2024, until the start of the tournament).
